Patriotic Layered Berry Pavlova

Patriotic Layered Berry Pavlova - Chew Nibble Nosh

It’s July!  And almost the 4th, which means it’s time to get your 4th of July plans in order!  This deceptively simple dessert is sure to knock your family’s socks off.  All you need are a few simple ingredients, and a little bit of time.  It’s fresh, light, and really tasty.

Have you ever had a pavlova?  Traditionally, a pavlova is a disk of fresh-baked meringue, topped with whipped cream and fruit.  The meringue is crisp and crunchy on the outside, and chewy-soft on the inside. Paired with fruit and cream, the texture of a pavlova dessert is unlike anything you’ve ever had, and truly special.  They are beautiful desserts, and always elicit oooohs and aaaaahs, but believe me when I say, this recipe is so easy to put together.

Orange Glazed Bunny Buns

Seriously, aren’t these little guys just too cute?

They are the perfect addition to your Easter table, be it brunch or dinner.  They are deliciously tender, and flavored with just a hint of warm spices and orange zest, and then glazed with a simple, sweet orange glaze to finish them off.

And…they are super cute.

They really aren’t difficult to put together, but as with any yeast bread, they do take a little bit of time.

I started by mixing together some flour, yeast, and allspice in my mixing bowl.

When you think of the holidays, and this time of year in general, what flavors come to mind?  You might instantly be drawn to thoughts of crisp cool peppermint, or spicy gingerbread, sweet sugar cookies heaped with sprinkles, and cocoa and marshmallows by the fire.  Sweets often take the lead during the holidays, but there’s still a lot of room for the savory.

Sweet Potato and Cranberry Scones with Brown Sugar Icing

I know that Thanksgiving dinner is a massive meal, and we don’t want to fill up too early, but you’ve still got to have something with your morning coffee, right?

These buttery, fall speckled little scones are the perfect way to start your holiday, and they can be made ahead or a lot of the prep can be done the night before, saving you some time in the morning.

To begin, I peeled and diced up two medium-sized sweet potatoes.

Thanksgiving is all about tradition.  From the turkey to the cranberries, the menu for the holiday is usually as set in stone as you can get.  Every year, though, I like to try to change up (at least) one little thing about my Thanksgiving dinner. And although people are often skeptical, me changing things up a bit has led to some new family favorites, that step in year after year as new traditions. This time around, I decided to try a new pumpkin pie recipe.
