The Dog Days of Summer have finally hit us in Indiana. After a pretty cool and soggy start, now that it’s just about time to go back to school, the heat has finally kicked in. It’s May, and May in Indianapolis means race season! We Hoosiers are prepping for “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing”, otherwise known as The Indianapolis 500. Every year, hundreds of thousands of race fans make their pilgrimage to the track during the month of May, and this year, the party kicks off early.
On Friday, May 9th, the Rev Indy event will be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, celebrating not only the amazing drivers and the sport of racing itself, but the fabulous food and music that the great city of Indianapolis has to offer. It will be a wonderful night, all for a wonderful cause, as it will raise funds to help support the Indiana University Health Statewide trauma programs. It’s time to Spring things up in here! I can’t do winter food any more. I’m done. I don’t care if it’s freezing outside, my toes are endlessly cold, and the wind is gusting so hard it makes my ears hurt. It’s the end of March, for crying out loud!
Spring desserts, in my opinion, call for light, fresh flavors and, above all, berries. I love a good berry dessert, and this is one of them.
