It’s berry season! Berries are officially my favorite dessert fruit, so when early summer rolls around and bright, beautiful, fresh berries are abundant, I stock up and start cooking. I ran across this super simple Raspberry Cream Tart from Midwest Living magazine, and I knew this was the perfect time to give it a try.
The dessert looks perfectly summery and elegant, but putting it together is a breeze, and it gets a little (delicious) help from a convenient grocery store staple…
Refrigerated Sugar Cookie Dough.
No crust muss and fuss, just a minute or so of pressing cookie dough into a tart pan, and you’re on your way. Read more...(644 words, 10 images, estimated 2:35 mins reading time)
This summer was a summer of firsts for our family. We’d moved to a new place, so every day seemed like an adventure for a while, as we navigated our way through our new town. One of the things I was incredibly excited to find on our exploration was our amazing local farmers market. Actually, Indianapolis is lucky to be home to many amazing markets, but we frequented the Carmel Farmers Market, because it was close to home. What a great way to spend a Saturday morning! We love to grab a delicious, savory breakfast crepe (Avery prefers Nutella and Banana) or a “Walking Waffle”, and wander around the beautiful vendors booths, filling our bag with fresh baked pastries and breads, amazing produce, and so much more. Spring has sprung (finally), and believe it or not, summer is right around the corner! I’ll fully admit that this time of year, every year, I get a case of the “Ohmigosh, I have to be in a swim suit, in public, in just a few short weeks.” heebie jeebies. Thankfully, as the weather warms up, I feel like eating lighter anyway. Hopefully, shedding the heavier, comfort food that winter brings will help me shed a few pounds as well.
That said, nobody wants to starve. Read more...(1075 words, 10 images, estimated 4:18 mins reading time)
OK, we have less than a week until Thanksgiving dinner. Are you ready?
Thanksgiving dinner is, for a lot of people, THE biggest dinner production of the year. It’s a matter of scheduling, multiple shopping trips, pre-baking, pre-making, freezing, thawing, checking, double checking, counting, serving, and finally, eating. It’s exhausting, but wonderful, and we look forward to it every year.
This dessert is a simple, no-fail, delicious option to add to your Thanksgiving menu. It needs to be made ahead, comes together in a matter of minutes, and looks quite impressive once it hits the table. My family really enjoyed it, and I have a feeling it will become a regular at our holiday table. Read more...(968 words, 11 images, estimated 3:52 mins reading time)
I’ve mentioned before that we are big fans of breakfast for dinner at our house. When we do have “Binner”, as my daughter calls it, it’s usually something pretty kid friendly…pancakes, waffles, eggs and bacon. That’s one of the nice things about Binner. Nobody complains! I decided to try this egg tart out the other night on the family, and fully expected the kids to turn their noses up at it. You know what? They didn’t! They loved it. Both of them. I’m still amazed.
