Given my occupation, people ask me all the time, “Do you actually cook dinner for your family every single night?” The short answer? No. Not at all. Are you kidding me? We usually eat out at least two or three times a week. Usually on the weekends, but sometimes, when a weeknight is filled with carpooling and crazy, it’s all I can do to keep track of my kids and whether or not the dog has had a chance to go out, let alone figure out what’s for dinner. Some nights, a home cooked meal just isn’t happening and on nights like that, I am THRILLED that we now have the option of using DoorDash right here in Indianapolis!
And bonus, it’s arrived here just in time for December…which is always my craziest month.
Have you ever heard of DoorDash? In a nutshell, DoorDash is a restaurant delivery service. You can easily access DoorDash.com on your computer, or download the DoorDash app onto your phone, get a huge list restaurants in your area who participate, order anything you’d like from one of your favorite restaurants, and have it delivered in by one of the courteous Dashers in your area!
Plus, get this…there’s NO MINIMUM ORDER SIZE.
That alone is pretty spectacular.
We decided to give them a try last week and put our local Dashers to the test. I easily uploaded DoorDash’s free app to my phone, put in my information, and set up my account quickly. Then, I was given a list of, virtually, every restaurant in the area to choose from. Local favorites like Amber Indian, The Pint Room, Biaggi’s, La Hacienda, and City Barbeque were on the list, along with countless others. That night, though, we decided to order from one of our favorite upscale burger spots, Bru Burger Bar.
I ordered my all time favorite, the drool-worthy Farmstead Burger, my husband grabbed the Stilton Blue Cheese Burger, we clicked to get some chicken tenders for the kids, a french fry sampler, and a chopped salad. Once we’d settled on our meals, I clicked to order, and DoorDash got to work.
You can track your order in real time! I knew right when my Dasher, Richard, arrived at the restaurant, and I received a notification as soon as he was on his way to me! Dinner was estimated to be at my door by 6:21, and he arrived a few minutes after 6:00. Once he arrived, he handed me the bag, wished me a good evening, and he was on his way.
And we dug right in.
My biggest worries about soggy french fries and cold burgers were put to rest as soon as I opened up the boxes. Fries were crisp and fresh, burgers were hot and ready to be devoured, and my salad was perfectly cool and delicious. Everything was fantastic, and I barely had to lift a finger!
My husband and I ended up splitting our burgers, because they both looked so good. Mine with shaved roasted brussels sprouts, prosciutto, farmstead feta, garlic aioli and an apple mostarda, and his with stilton, pear-bacon jam, fried onions, truffle aioli, and spinach.
It sure beats digging through the pantry to find something to whip up on a night you just don’t feel like cooking, eh? DoorDash is definitely a game changer in our household, and I’m sure it will be in yours too!
DoorDash has even been kind enough to offer a promotion code just for Chew Nibble Nosh readers! Go to DoorDash.com or grab the DoorDash app to set up your account. When you place your first order, add the promo code ChewNibbleNosh to get $8.00 off your meal!
So go! Order! Enjoy your favorite restaurant meals from the comfort of your own home. No muss, no fuss, and it’s as simple as a few clicks away.
