Sometimes, things just don’t go your way. Like, when you’re planning on asking your husband to grill kebabs for dinner, so you have everything prepped and ready in the fridge for dinner time, and then your husband calls and says he has a last minute dinner meeting, and then it starts to pour.
When life hands you a dinner meeting and a sudden rainstorm, use your oven! That was the lesson learned that day. These little guys are super easy to put together, and they were absolutely delicious. What do we do when we buy a bunch of raspberries because they’re on sale? We make pie! I’ve had this recipe in my back pocket for a while now, and have been meaning to make it, but grabbing some beautiful berries at a beautiful price sealed the deal. And, the fact that this pie is so easy to throw together made it taste even sweeter.

Zucchini noodles seem to be all the rage right now and spiralizers are moving from a fancy garnish tool to an everyday kitchen gadget. My friends at OXO asked me to try out their new Hand Held Spiralizer, and of course, I told them I’d love to give it a try!
What to make, though? As I was trying to figure out what to tackle first with my new gadget, I ran across an old recipe, written on a postcard, from my mother. I have no idea where this recipe came from. Probably from the pages of an old, yellowed cooking magazine or from one of her gazillion cookbooks (I come by my book hoarding tendencies honestly). This is a great recipe to have on hand when you really want to go out to your favorite Indian restaurant for dinner, or grab carry-out from them, but it’s too darn cold to go and you’d rather just stay home, put on your pajamas and slippers, and stay warm.

Happy Fall! It’s official…we’ve moved on. Summer is over, leaves are changing, the air is crisp, everything is covered in pumpkin spice…I love it. Fall is my favorite time of year.
As the temperature starts to dip, it’s nice to have some cozy, comfy, family pleasing meals in your back pocket. This one is delicious, and my family loved ringing in the new season with a new fall favorite.

I use my slow cooker a lot on busy nights during the school year, but I’ve found that it can also be a life saver during the hot, summer months when the last thing you want to do is stand over a hot stove or heat up the whole house with a hot oven. That said, a lot of slow cooker meals are wintery…stews, soups, heavy, heavy, heavy.
