I’ve been hearing wonderful things about Green BEAN Delivery from my friends for a while now, so when the Green BEANers asked me if I’d like to give them a try, and share my experience with my readers, I didn’t hesitate to say yes!
Have you heard of Green BEAN Delivery? In a nutshell..a delicious, well-organized, amazing nutshell…Green BEAN Delivery is a fresh produce delivery service. Green BEAN specializes in locally grown, organic produce and natural groceries, and they deliver the products of many local farmers and food artisans right to your doorstep. You can opt to have weekly or biweekly deliveries, and the size of the delivery and the content are completely up to you.
Having the ability to choose what actually ends up on my doorstep each week is a HUGE draw for me. I love to change things up, and I’ve been a part of produce delivery services in the past where I got the same thing…every…week. Monotony doesn’t happen with Green BEAN!
How does it work? A few days before my first delivery, I received an email detailing everything that would be in my bin (which I have to admit, was fabulous, when it came to meal planning!). I had signed up for the small bin, which runs $35. They told me that I would find the following in my bin…
4 ears of Sweet Bi-Color Corn, Broccoli crowns, a yellow onion, 6 Apricots, 4 Nectarines, 5 Red Plums, a package of Blueberries, a package of Blackberries, half a pound of Crimini mushrooms, a bunch of Red Russian Kale and a head of Romaine lettuce.
The bin they selected for me seemed perfect enough, so I didn’t change anything this first time. BUT, had I seen something I didn’t like, or wanted to add more to the bin, all I needed to do was log into my account on their website and switch things out or add more! It’s that easy!
My bin arrived and we dove in.
Avery was especially excited about the fresh corn. You’d never know this girl hadn’t lived in Indiana all her life, the way she goes on and on about good corn on the cob. 😉
She started shucking the corn right away to have with dinner that night.
I also chopped up the Red Russian Kale, and sautéed it with some olive oil and fresh garlic.
When it was wilted, I sprinkled it with some shredded Parmesan cheese, and we gobbled up every last bit.
I’d taken the girls strawberry picking that same day, and had picked up some raspberries at the farm as well, so I used the blueberries and blackberries in an amazing quadruple berry pie that night for dessert.
Do you see how plump those berries are? They were AMAZING!!! I have to admit, not every blackberry made it into the pie. A few we’re swiped right out of the bowl!
Every bit of produce in our bin was beautifully fresh and delicious. It was like having my favorite farmer’s market come right to my door! We are now huge fans of Green BEAN and are eager to build our next bin for delivery.
